We are thrilled to announce that guitarist and producer Lauri Kallio, our latest artist, is set to release his highly anticipated second album. We are honoured to bring this masterpiece to you.

Lauri Kallio (b.1989) is a music lover and musician from Helsinki, Finland. Playing guitar, producing, and recording albums have kept him busy in recent years. Kallio is mostly known for his work with Pambikallio, Jimi Tenor, Litku Klemetti, and others. He has been awarded and nominated at the Finnish Grammys, and his projects have received positive attention in the Finnish media. He frequently plays at festivals and clubs both in his home country and abroad.

Lauri’s work delves into the deep bonds between music, humans, animals, and the myriad of indescribable emotions that connect us all. With the first single “Forgetting Things (feat. Jimi Tenor)” already having a release date, we are eagerly looking forward to unveiling album “Turtles, Cats, and Other Creatures”!

EP: We Make Sounds This Way

Selma and Helen met at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in 2019, and have since become close friends and collaborators. They have worked as a duo across various iterations, and “We Make Sounds This Way” forms an exciting arrival point of their evolution as a two-piece.

The songs are short, playful, strange, and beautiful, and were developed at the Helsinki International Artist Programme as part of a three-month residency which Helen was undertaking in the winter of 2023.

The sounds and “words” which we explore on this EP are often built upon a made-up language, with a focus on syllabic rhythm and articulation. Quite often, the listener may wonder who is who; at certain points, both voices seamlessly blur into a rich and singular sound source (e.g. Low Kuu). At other times, Savolainen and Svoboda each feature their own distinctive voices, also incorporating the double bass as a third group member on the odd occasion.
